About this resource
Ready to print, adapt and use.
This two-page worksheet helps 3rd Class pupils recognise the trees that grow naturally in Ireland. They match leaf and tree photographs to oak, ash, hazel and holly, then sort eight species into native Irish trees and species brought to Ireland, such as beech and sycamore.
Teaching notes
Pair the sheet with a nature walk or bring real leaves into class so pupils can compare shapes and edges. Introduce the Irish names – dair, fuinseog, coll, cuileann – and ask why native trees matter for Irish birds and insects.
